my new favourite pizza place in brisbane

We noticed that Oliver & Co. in SW1 at South Brisbane (used to be called Fresh on Melbourne) are now doing wood fired pizzas for lunch and dinner, Tues to Sat til 9pm.

We’ve been twice now and they’re really good, thin homemade crust and simple ingredients. My favourite is the salami, onion and rocket. Kit’s fave is the mushroom. The best thing is that they’re only a tenner for a large. Bargain.

“If you allow me to live just a few years in the second half of the twentieth century, I will be happy.” Now that’s a strange statement to make, because the world is all messed up. The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land. Confusion all around. That’s a strange statement. But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars.

~ “I’ve been to the mountaintop” – Martin Luther King Jr, April 3rd 1968: one day before we was assassinated.

We only decided yesterday that we’d go see Blue King Brown at Brisbane’s Tivoli last night.

TZU

TZU

Melbourne hip hop collective TZU (pronounced tee zed yoo) were mixing things up when we arrived about eight-thirty. We’d seen them before at the Valley fiesta and yet again they didn’t dissapoint. They had this beatbox thing which was seriously rad. They played the somewhat relevant Summer Days but with a mid-tempo disco beat which was rather cool. They finished with an amazing spoken word by Joelistics.

Blue King Brown put on a really good show. They had a cool video screen with lots of imagery. Playing as a ten piece band meant there was lots of depth and also many solos which all sounded great, especially the keyboard solos. There were a hilarious group of fans standing next to us who would provide a running commentary such as “oh my god, he has magical fingers man” .

Good times.
