rearranging our apartment
We went shopping last Saturday and bought ourselves a pure latex mattress from ZenTai. We went for latex as it is a natural product and it doesn’t attract dust. Installing the new mattress inspired us to do a quick rearrange/redesign of our apartment. We are aiming for a more minimal/streamlined look incorporating succulent plants, neutral tones and some bright highlights such as the red ‘Love’ sign.

back on land
We spent the last week on wonderful North Stradbroke Island. The first two days were cold and wet so I read all day. The remaining five were warm, sunny and beautiful so not a lot of reading got done!
Some highlights were:
- Playing our own backyard pétanque tournament: we were beaten 2 to 1;
- Finishing Duma Key: it’s an enjoyable read;
- Seeing the amazing Pandanus Palms: at Point Lookout;
- Spotting some street art: courtesy of that_knight_guy; and
- Staring at the colour of the amazing ocean.

where on earth is wally (waldo)?
It’s a modern day version of where’s wally and it involves a huge amount of painted vinyl, some friends with time to spare, a fifty foot long flat rooftop, and google earth. Somewhere in Vancouver, Canada, Waldo lies waiting for google’s satellites to take a snapshot of him. Only then will someone be able to know his exact location.
wolfmother rocked andy warhol @ goma on 12 april 2008
Wow. Wolfmother’s concert tonight at GOMA, their first in over nine months, was superb. Every person in the small diverse crowd knew that they were lucky to witness such an amazing and intimate concert. It was the last night of the Andy Warhol exhibition and I don’t think any other Australian band could have closed it with such a bang. The band were completely unpretentious and humble, performing a wide selection of their songs including favourites Woman and closing with an amazing Joker & the Thief. Wow.

transforming an op-shop painting
I picked up this framed acrylic painting at a local lifeline op shop. It’s weird but something about it that made me want to buy it. Besides, it was only twenty bucks. It’s about two meters wide.
I’m thinking of transforming it into something fresh using some street art techniques. I am trying to decide between traditional graffiti, stencil, sticker and poster art. I’ll be sure to post some photos of the finished product when I do get around to actually deciding and doing.
